Pat Clay

Executive Board Member and Deputy Chair

Business Owner

A career as an accountant led to Pat living in the UK and the US before returning to NZ and a change of career.  After establishing Inkt online, Pat and his wife decided it was time to return to his roots and chose to live in Whanganui.  Though we didn’t know it at the time, the work of Mainstreet was a key part of our decision in where to live.  Inkt has since opened a store on Victoria Ave, and has been well supported both by locals & visitors.

Des Healy

Building Owner

I have been a business owner for 20 years and heritage building owner for 18 years. Have been on the board for three years. Recently we sold our business but still have a close association with Mainstreet and have the time to help.

Rachel Brandon

Executive Board Member

Business and Property Owner

I have been a building owner & Mainstreet retailer for the

past six years.

I feel it is important to have

board members who understand the role of Mainstreet from the other side of the table.

This is why I wish to sit on the board for a third year. I bring with me honesty, enthusiasm &

a female touch.

Executive Board Member

Associate Member

I have worked as a labourer intermittently in the Mainstreet area from the period 1969-2014. I was secretary of the Wanganui Drivers Union for 4 years. During which time I was solely in charge of the Unions affairs which included managing its finances, conducting meetings, representing workers at personal grievance hearings, arranging seminars and the other myriad duties associated with Union work. I have also served on the Whanganui Boys College board of Governors and on the Distance Education Technical Advisory Committee.

John Anderson

Executive Board Member

Business and Property Owner

I have witnessed the ebb and flow of Whanganui’s economic and political fortunes from the point of view of working at street level in Victoria Avenue for the past 40 years. Wanganui Furnishers has now been operating for over 100 years and is into its fourth generation of Anderson family members. I am encouraged by the renaissance of Whanganui that is being generated by nett gains in population once more and believe as long term residents we could do more to welcome a wider diversity of new people to create a truly vibrant town. My previous roles/ community interests include District Councillor, President Wanganui Retailers Association, Chamber of Commerce Executive, Museum Board, membership of Architectural Heritage,

Friends of Queen’s Park,

Friends of the Whanganui River, Friends of the Sarjeant Gallery.
