The Team at Mainstreet Whanganui

On behalf of Mainstreet Whanganui our best wishes go out to our members, whanau and the community as a whole during these challenging times as we all face COVID-19.

There will be many challenges ahead for us all going from the present and into the future.

The Mainstreet Board has directed the operations team to develop a quick and efficient way of supporting our members. With this in mind the team has developed this new website specifically focused on supporting you. I am asking all members with businesses and services in our remit area of the CBD to look out for requests for information from us and reply as soon as you can. Mainstreet’s new website will be the engine to drive the Mainstreet #arohalocal  #arohawhanganui Campaign which has been developed to support you. I ask that you share this information with other members and the community.

The campaign has been developed to promote business and services in the CBD through the different levels and to encourage local people to access goods and services when and where they can safely. The initial campaign will run for the next six months and will be adapted as and when required. The campaign is designed to use on radio, digital, print, social media and other mediums.

I would like to acknowledge Mainstreet’s strong dynamic team who have been working tirelessly and with much passion and professionalism to support you our members in the town centre, and I am very proud of the work achieved to date by this team.

I would also like to thank our city maintenance teams who have been working on essential services through Level 4 in the CBD, and will continue with their workmates to provide essential services at Level 3 and beyond. I ask if you see them working in the CBD to please use social distancing, if they politely ask you to give them space/distance please receive it in the spirit it is given.  A range of our teams have been working in the CBD and from home during this time, our administration team has been working to support all our teams and run the business. A big thank you to the Whanganui District Council and Downers for their support.

Our Board has been providing strong leadership, guidance and direction through these times. We are blessed to have a board that think strategically and have a range of skills and experience to enrich Mainstreet, we have a range of board members who are building owners, own and run businesses, and associates with skills in a range of professions.

During this time, we have been working in collaboration with Whanganui & Partners, Chamber of Commerce and Te Mana Atatu Whanganui Maori Business Network to communicate opportunities for information, support and resources via the Mainstreet Facebook Page. We encourage our members to access this support through the Whanganui & Partners Website - CLICK HERE.
